Our Family Travel Bucket List

One thing I’ve always wanted to do my whole life is travel. I wanted to travel as a child and I knew back then when I had my own family I’d want to travel with them too. I’ve been lucky enough to visit so many beautiful places but there are still many I want to see. I have a huge list of places I want to visit but I’ve never actually written them down, so I thought today was the day! Here’s a list of some destinations I want to visit with my family.

Salt Lake City, Utah, United States

There’s something I love about Salt Lake City. It has some beautiful mountains for a backdrop and it’s right next to the Great Salt Lake, and I can’t forget to mention the beautiful Utah vacation rentals that I’ve been lusting over too. My dream is to wake up in one of those stunning villas in Utah, with Nathan and Oliver, with a view of the city AND the mountains. I would love to see the Great Salt Lake in person too – It’s approximately 1,700 square miles wide which is HUGE! It seems to be one of those destinations that has everything. I’m hoping in the future to visit a few places in the United States on one holiday, but when we do, I’m making sure Utah is one of our stops.

Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavik is just beautiful. I love that you have the chance to see the northern lights but also I’m dying to visit Blue Lagoon which is a natural geothermal spa near Reykjavik. I adore all Scandinavian countries – their architecture is so colourful and stunning. I’m not sure what age would be suitable to take Oliver (and any future children we have) as I know it can get pretty darn cold! If you’ve visited Reykjavik with children please send me any recommendations or tips. We’d love to go but wouldn’t know the most suitable time to go with kids around!

Rome, Italy

This is somewhere I’m hoping we’ll be able to go within a few years. Rome has so much going on in the city and there are plenty of things to do – There’s the Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Pantheon… The list is huge! I’m dying to try some Italian food actually in Italy, as I’m sure it’s not quite like what we can get here in the UK. Plus, it would be nice to go somewhere hot for a few days! Seeing as Italy is fairly close to us, compared to other destinations I’m mentioning, this one will be a lot easier to pull off whilst having a toddler with us.

North Island, New Zealand

Guys. I just need to go to Hobbiton. The island itself is just gorgeous but I need to visit Hobbiton; where they filmed parts of Lord Of The Rings. This is a long distant dream which I’m going to make sure I do one day. It’ll most likely be when Oliver is a lot older and we can save up, as I can imagine it’ll be expensive… But if I suddenly win the lottery it’ll be one of the first trips I book! Our ideal holiday of New Zealand would be touring across the 2 islands in a camper van, cruising along the coast and going wherever the hell we want. I wouldn’t want to go for less than 3 weeks, that’s for sure.

Cape Town, South Africa

After doing some research I’ve found that there is so much to do in Cape Town that are suitable for families. There’s a lot more than I originally thought to be honest! There’s sand boarding, the Cape Town science centre, Kirstenbosch gardens, two oceans aquarium etc. On top of this, from the photos I’ve seen, Cape Town looks beautiful.

Disneyland Paris, France

A lot of people don’t believe me when I say I’ve never be to Disneyland Paris. It’s somewhere I’ve wanted to go since I was little and I’ve still not had the chance. Nathan has been a few times so he’s promised he’ll take me one day. After seeing photos from my brother-in-law’s trip to Disneyland I fell in love with the Toy Story area – I bloody love Toy Story! We were lucky enough to go to Disney World in Florida back in 2016, but I feel I need to visit Disneyland just because it’s on the UK’s doorstep, and we can experience the magic without the 9 hour flight again!

Toronto, Canada

Canada has been at the top of our travel bucket list for years. We had originally planned to go to Toronto this summer, but it was SO much more expensive than we thought it would be. We’ve now decided we’re going to save up for a few years and then go for it. I think Canada looks beautiful and I’m desperate to see Niagra Falls. I’d also love to see the CN tower in person because I love Toronto’s city skyline, so to really see it would be amazing. Fingers crossed this one we can save up for!

This list could go on for ages as there are so many places I want us to travel to. We most definitely would have traveled most of the world by now if money wasn’t an issue, but alas, it is. I’m forever wishing we could win the lottery one day – The lottery that I don’t actually enter… What destinations have you got on your travel bucket list? I’d love to here them!

Oh wow, those villas in Utah look so lush! I’ve never really known much about places in America but this sounds like such a wonderful place and so relaxing! My mother in law went to Reykjavik last year and loved it but that was 4 adults so ill certainly be asking, it would amazing to see the northern lights and relax in the blue lagoon wouldn’t it? Though there are a lot of geysers and unerrupted volcanoes and it’s not cheap (boo) haha! I would love to visit Canada too! I know it can be cold there bht it just seems like such an amazing place. So chilled out and the niagara falls. Lovely bucket list! Xx

Rome is one of my favourite places in the world! We went a lot as kids, Italy is very child-friendly! We’re going to Sicily in June and I can’t wait.

Reykjavik is definitely on my bucket list too, and we want to see more of America too 🙂

Great list, I hope you get to visit some of these places soon!

  7. We have quite a lot of dream destinations in common, Sarah! As an archaeology student, I have always wanted to explore Rome, but although I have flown into the city twice in order to get to excavations in other parts of Italy, I’ve never actually seen all of the landmarks, which is something that I really must do as soon as I get the chance! Iceland is also at the top of my list, my boyfriend is been there before and has wonderful memories of the place, especially Blue Lagoon, and we have been looking into going together but the flights are just so expensive at the moment, I’m hoping that a bargain will come up soon!
