Getting A Better Nights Sleep With Bedding And Curtains

Making sure you get a good nights sleep is very important. As someone who struggles with sleeping at night, finding ways to improve sleep is beneficial. Lack of sleep can put strain on your body and could cause some serious problems. Since working in a retail bed store a few years ago I’ve learnt that having the correct bedding can make a huge difference to your nights sleep. If you’re not comfortable with your current bedding you obviously won’t sleep well.

Bedding: Getting A Better Nights Sleep

A lot of the time your sleep can be interrupted of a night because you’re either too warm or too cold. Surprisingly this may not always be down to just your duvet! How many times do you turn your pillow over to the cooler side? I know I do this a lot! Making sure you have the correct bedding for you is important and you shouldn’t rush into buying it. The thing I learnt is not all bedding suits everyone.


When it comes to your duvet you need to look out for the Tog number. The lower the number the cooler it should be. So if you get warm at night, you need a low tog. If you get cold at night, you need a high tog. Simple! There are so many different types of duvets you can choose from such as; anti-allergy, duck feather and more.


Remember when I said it’s not just a duvet that can affect your temperature at night? Well pillows can be a huge factor too. It’s important to find a pillow that holds your head at the correct angle you’re comfortable with which also doesn’t get too warm. Bed Sheets

It’s always nice to have new bed sheets. The feeling of getting into a bed with new sheets is bliss! It’s important to change your bed sheets regularly otherwise they get quite warn and go ‘bobbly’, which I hate! You can also buy waterproof mattress protectors for your little ones for those unfortunate nights.

Duvet Covers

I love getting into bed knowing I have a beautiful duvet cover on. It may not affect your sleep but it finishes off your room nicely and I personally feel much happier! A huge thing that is affecting us right now is the amount of light coming into our bedroom of a morning. My husband and I have an east facing bedroom so we get lots of sun bursting through our curtains, which wakes me up bright and early. We’ve recently moved and we’ve still got the old curtains that were left by the previous owners. It’s safe to say they’re pretty rubbish.

Although these aren’t the only ways of getting a good night’s sleep, these tips will get you one big step closer to a better night’s sleep. Since buying new fitted sheets and getting a summer duvet, I’ve slept so much better and it’s really helped my mental health. There is nothing better than sleeping in a nice comfortable environment!     I recently tried a new pillow, a Serta won’t lose shape pillow, and it has made a HUGE difference in how well I am sleeping! I love it!

    really helpful post, my sleep pattern is messed up anyway with the children and my need to not go to bed when I should haha, I love a squgdy pillow to have, my neck hurts if i use anything else haha

    I couldn’t agree more about the importance of a good night’s sleep! I love snuggling down in a freshly changed bed, buying linen is one of my guilty pleasures hehe! The Factory Shop and Primark are my two favourite places to get reasonably priced bedclothes, but I must check out the Yorkshire Linen Company too! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
