I’ve seen the Husband/Fiance/Boyfriend Make Up Knowledge Tag floating around recently in the blogging world and I’ve loved reading them! I love seeing their reactions to some of the make up products they’ve never heard of and what they think they do, so I thought it would be super fun to see how my husband, Nathan, reacts to them. I must admit that Nathans knowledge of make up is pretty good for a man who doesn’t wear any, but I guess he’s had to put up with me nagging on about the make up I have and want (need!).
When I first asked Nathan to do this tag for me his first reaction was ‘Nope!’ repeatedly. After explaining that it wasn’t me putting make up on him and actually it’s me just asking him questions about make up he was more up for it and seemed pretty confident! I was interested to find out what Nathan actually thought certain products did, because he hears about them frequently but does he pay attention to it..? Let’s find out!
Here are all the questions I asked Nathan;
So, what are each of these make up products used for?
Bronzer: ‘To give you more colour to your face, kind of like a tan…ish?’
Blusher: ‘Gives you rosey cheeks, like a pinky colour to your cheeks…’
Mascara: ‘Darkens and lengthens the eyelashes’ I was pretty impressed with this answer!
Eye Liner: ‘I suppose it helps draw the eyes out? Like it gives a dark border to the eyes or something?’
Strobing: ‘Sorry, what?! Strobing? What’s strobing? I dunno, you put high lighter on your eye lids?!’
Eyeshadow: ‘It adds colour to your eye lids and gives definition to your eyes? Or just gives you a fancy look!’
Powder: ‘It reduces the shine to your skin.’
Foundation: ‘Does it just give you a nice even skin tone, provided it’s blended in properly!’ Good Man! 😉
Concealer: ‘Isn’t that used to cover up spots and blemishes?’
Highlighter: ‘Highlights specific places on your face to help draw eyes to them…?’
Setting Spray: ‘A spray that helps set your make up so it doesn’t run off or smudge… I assume.’
Contouring: ‘ I know what it is but… Erm… I dunno! People do it to make it look like they have a slimmer nose and higher cheek bones… stuff like that?!’
Primer: ‘That’s just like an under coating. A bit like how you put white paint on a wall before you add colour – Like a base coat!’
Lip Liner: ‘I dunno… To draw attention to your lips and if you’re wearing lipstick it creates a border, like a solid outline.’
Brow Pencil: ‘To draw on brows? Or to make them darker or a certain colour or shape?’
Serum: ‘Just hydrates the skin… Sort of like a moisturiser.’
Cleaner: ‘Cleans the grim off the skin and gets rid of old caked on make up?’
Micellar Water: ‘A f***ing fad! *laughs* It’s a bit like a cleanser isn’t it?’
Toner: Helps balance the tone of your skin…? …. or…. Or does it make the skin more supple?’
Was this test hard? ‘Some questions were!’
Why? ‘Because I’ve never heard of them! And I don’t wear make up!
So I was pretty impressed by most of the answers he gave me, but he needs to learn Micellar Water is awesome! I’m also not surprised he doesn’t know what strobing is! The next step I was thinking was letting Nathan do my make up for me and sharing it with you to see what the outcome is like – Bit of a risky move I think, but it’ll be entertaining to say the least!
Has your partner completed this make up knowledge tag? If not, give it a go and tag me so I can read their responses! Let’s see if he knows what strobing is!
Have a wonderful day!
