The ‘Behind the Scenes’ of Pregnancy

Okay. So I’m just over 33 weeks pregnant with just over 6 weeks to go till we get to meet our little baby. Throughout this pregnancy I have had the odd comment or two like ‘Oh your glowing!’ or ‘Pregnancy really suits you!’. Pregnancy definitely has the reputation that it can be a glamorous thing. Well I’m here to say, it definitely has it’s not so glamorous moments!

Pregnancy Belly

Now that I’m getting towards the end of my pregnancy I find these non-glamorous moments happening much more often. Here’s some of my personal non-glamorous moments I’ve experienced…

Acting like a turtle on it’s shell when trying to get off a deep sofa.

Unfortunately this happens to me way to often! My sofa is a recliner and I always seem to forget how hard it is to get off. I in the end have to get my husband to push down the recliner and help me shuffle towards the edge of the sofa. However, now I’m on maternity and my husband is at work I’m having to work out how to get off the sofa myself, and I can only describe it as acting like a turtle stuck on it’s shell!

Forgetting you stick out further at the front so you can’t fit into all spaces.

The amount of times I’ve parked my car and realised I can’t fit past the wing mirror is a nightmare. I’ve had to do a lot of ducking so my bump fits under the wing mirror, which isn’t the most flattering of moves!

Eating healthy in front of others and then eating the entire contents of your cupboards at home.

Yes I know you’re meant to eat healthy when pregnant, which I do! I try to eat all of the fruit and veg I need on a daily basis, but then about 30 mins after eating I need to eat again. It’s not uncommon to find me sitting on the sofa with empty packets of crisps and biscuits next to me…

Gaining the ability to snore. Loudly.

Now I hope this isn’t just me! Since gaining more weight and finding it more difficult to sleep at night with the big bump on me I’ve started to snore. Not a cute little snore though – A really deep, loud snore. Luckily it’s only my husband who has to deal with this snore at the moment, but we’re going on a big family holiday (23 of us!) next week, so I’m sure some of them may hear me snoring at some point…

Having no control over your body temperature.

In England it can be hot one day, then cold another, but this has no effect on a pregnant lady at all! I am hot, all the time. When it’s an extremely hot day, don’t even come near me unless you want to see the sweat literally dripping off me (Sorry for that delightful vision there…). Weirdly enough though, the skin on the bump is always cold!

The sudden urge to need to pee.

It’s very common for me to be in the middle of a conversation and then to suddenly jump up and say ‘He’s kicking on my bladder, I’ve gotta pee!’. Even just 30 mins after going you’ll need to go again soon!

There are plenty more non-glamorous things that happen in pregnancy, but they aren’t really things I should share on here! Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever experienced any non-glamorous moments in pregnancy. I just hope I’m not the only one who has had these happen to them!

Thanks for reading and have a good day!
